Pastoral care and student welfare
St Monica’s School is committed to the safety and wellbeing of our students and families. Our school staff members have specific responsibilities in order to meet both legislative and policy based student protection requirements, which are detailed in the Toowoomba Catholic Schools Student Protection policy, processes and guidelines. These documents are accessible to anyone either by making a request through the school Administration Office, or by visiting the student protection page of the Toowoomba Catholic Schools website.
Our staff members receive comprehensive training in our procedures through an initial induction process, complemented by ongoing annual training as part of our professional development processes.
The current School Student Protection Contacts are: Mrs Kaylene Bruggemann and Miss Lauren Grant. Students are also supported by our School Guidance Counsellor. All students are regularly informed of who the contacts are and School Student Protection Contact posters are displayed throughout the school.
St Monica’s School also implements the Child and Youth Risk Management Strategy, as prescribed by the legislative requirements under the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000, which includes Blue Card checks and monitoring processes that ensure that staff members and volunteers have undergone suitability checks to work with children. Should you wish to learn more about the Child and Youth Risk Management Strategy, please contact the school though our Administration Office.
